The elevator pitch:
Exploring what happened to Dragon Age's Old God Baby, now that it seems pretty clear we'll get little to no deets from DATV. Kieran is 19-20 years old and can exist basically anywhere we need him in Thedas.
How I write him:
It's obviously hard to extrapolate exactly what an adult will be like when you met them as a 10-year-old for like 20 minutes back in 2015, but these are some of the beats I'm hoping to hit with Kieran:
• A mix of bookish and outdoorsy - capable of staying in a library for two days straight while he's trying to solve a specific problem, but also happy to rough it for weeks at a time.
• Socially adept and surface-level friendly, but more difficult to make deeper connections with. His time in the court of Orlais taught him plenty about people's ability to backstab and betray.
• Fiercely independent, willing to go it alone where he deems it necessary. Full of secrets that players probably know but other characters likely don't.
• Interested in happiness and contentment in a way that disappoints his mother a little. He wants a small life - traveling for the fun of it, or an apartment in Val Royeaux and a life of leisure, or a secluded cottage and a reputation as The Witch of the Wilds. (Which Wilds? Any Wilds.) Or maybe a mix of all three. Discovering arcane secrets and achieving fame and glory don't interest him - or, at least, they don't interest him to the point of dedicating his life to them. Frankly, his history with arcane knowledge is fairly horrifying.
In many ways, he's very much his mother's son: clever, canny, self-sufficient, often distrusting of others. He's a friendlier, gentler person, though, who's pretty sure he's happiest outside the gaze and grasp of high society.
Abilities:
He's a mage. I haven't decided on a specific vibe to his magic.
Worldstate:
By default, I tend to write Kieran as the version in my 'canon' playthrough of the franchise: The son of a city elf called Kier Tabris, he grew up with the soul of the old god Urthemiel living inside him.
In contexts where specific canon might matter (i.e., interacting with someone else's warden on a meme, etc.), I'm always happy to adjust to different parentage. I prefer to play him with OGB context, however, rather than being the happenstance son of Morrigan and a Grey Warden.
Ships:
If you're interested, then my answer is a solid maybe! M/F and M/M are both fine - just ask.
